Semacheck

Delete your Semacheck account

Semacheck is a checklist app for Android and the web, made by Aleksei Semenov. You can delete your account, and everything in it, at any time, in either of two ways.

In the app

  1. On the web: open app.semacheck.app, signed in, and go to Settings → Delete account…. Type delete to confirm. The question offers to export your checklists first.
  2. On Android: Settings → Delete account… opens the same page on the web.

The account is deleted at once.

By email

Write to support@semacheck.app from the email address your account uses, asking for the account to be deleted. It is deleted by hand within one month, and you get a reply when it is done.

What is deleted

Everything: your account and the name and email address it holds, every checklist and item, your settings, your signed-in devices and their push tokens, and every sign-in session. Phones signed in to the account remove its checklists the next time they connect. Nothing is kept for a grace period, and it cannot be undone. Signing in again with the same Google account later starts a new, empty account.

What remains, and for how long

  • Backups taken before the deletion still contain the account until they are deleted, at most 30 days later. If a backup is ever restored, the account is deleted again before the service goes back online.
  • A note of the account’s random id and the time it was deleted, kept beside the backups for 30 days, which is what lets a restored backup be cleaned again. It contains no name, email address or content.
  • One-way hashes of the account’s sign-in sessions, which identify nobody, until they would have expired — 30 days at most — so that a device still signed in is told the account was deleted.

Without an account

If you use the Android app without signing in, your checklists exist only on your phone, and Semacheck holds nothing about you. Uninstalling the app deletes them.
